Santa's "Nice" List ~

Whew!!! December is a busy month! And i'm trying to cram in as much "Family Memories" as possible. Homemade ornaments, homemade christmas cards, cookies, baked goodies, driving around looking at christmas lights and going to see the Jolly fella himself. One day "Buddy" the Elf brought the kids something fun.....a Gingerbread Choo Choo Train! The kids were uber excited to dive into that project. Me...well i knew that it would be tricky getting the littles to actually put the candy on the train. SO here are a few pictures ....

The front of the train was decorated by little man. UMMMM....yep, he ate most of it. HA!

The back was little girls to decorate all her own. And she did a wonderful job.

Little girl did most of this side too. And actually has some candy on it .

And here is a front view. IT CRACKS ME UP!

And there you have it folks....Train wreck 2011 i mean Lovely Gingerbread Train 2011! It ain't perfect but i love it. :o)

I don't know about you but i STILL have a few gifts to buy. I bought most of the littles christmas gifts early this year and thank goodness i did!! I can't believe how fast certain toys fly off of the shelves.

The kids wrote a list for Santa this year....Items on that list include Woody, Jessie, Art Easel and a Inno Tab. What are some of the Hot items that your kids put on their list to Santa this year??

North Pole Breakfast 2011~

Oh the excitement!! :o) "Buddy" the elf came to us from the North Pole for a special breakfast. What a wonderful...fun filled morning we had.

The kids woke up to find a table filled with yummy goodness from the North Pole!! And who brought us this Christmas Breakfast asked my little girl????

Well that would be the little elf i told her. Buddy? Buddy's back?? Yippee!!! Just look at that face!!

At the North Pole they have Snow covered donuts and gingerbread men for breakfast. And we got to enjoy these treats this morning.

Along with Hot cocoa topped with yummy marshmallows. Buddy seems to like marshmallows...maybe they are his favorite?? hehe!!

I know they were this little fellas favorite. He was so excited that he got to drink in a "big" cup.

I watched as this little guy took his first taste of Hot Cocoa....REAL hot {warm} cocoa {not cold chocolate milk}.

Buddy left a sweet letter for both the kids letting them know that he is watching them and reporting back to the "Big Jolly Fella".

And beside the letter he left them a little gift. SOCKS of course to keep their little piggies warm all winter. :o)

All in all the North Pole Breakfast was a HUGE hit. The littles L*O*V*E*D it and now we have a new family tradition to kick off the christmas season.

Lots more family fun in store this month leading up to Christmas. Hopefully things won't get to crazy around here and i can share some of the fun. Happy Holidays!!!

Sammies ~

I'm a sandwich lover. How about you? I reciently found a new recipe for Hawiian Sweet Roll Ham Sammies and tried it out a few nights ago. And let me tell ya....they were yummy!!! These would make good snacks for game night or for a church pot luck. Warning....it is very onion-y! IF you don't like onions don't try this. I happen to love onions and with this hot sammie the onions is what makes it so yummy. .....

Hawiian Sweet Roll Ham Sammies

What you will need:
1 Pk of 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls
1 onion minced
1 stick of butter
3 tbs of dijon mustard
2 tsp worchestire sauce
3 tsp poppy seeds
Half pound shaved ham
8 slices of swiss cheese

Start by chopping or grating an onion. I use the hand chopper from Pampered Chef. I get a pretty fine mince.

Melt a stick of butter and then add the onions to the butter.

Add three tablespoons of Dijon mustard to the onions and butter.

Add two teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce and stir completely.

Then add three teaspoons of poppy seeds and let simmer for a few minutes, until onions are soft.

Grab a package of the Hawaiian Sweet dinner rolls and cut the entire thing in half length wise.

Place the roll bottoms in a aluminum foil lined 13 by 9 pan. Spread the onion mixture on the entire bottom. You will want to save about 1/4 of the mixture back.

Grab some shaved ham, about a half a pound, and seven to eight slices of swiss cheese. Put the ham on top of the onions and then add the slices of cheese.

Add the roll tops on the cheese.

Now, with the remaining onion mixtures, spread over the top of the rolls.

Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate until ready to use. Bake on 350 degrees for 20 minutes, covered with foil.

When you remove from the oven, slice down the roll lines.

Meal Planning ~

I do not always have time to do a good meal plan for the week. And for awhile we were eating the same things week after week. The kids were getting board with breakfast and lunches. Lately i have been trying ALOT of new recipes {thanks to a certain website ;) } and i needed some way for myself to make sure to write down a good meal plan for the family. I pulled this cute little book with empty lined pages from the craft room......

And decided it was going to be my new "Meal Planning Book". I pick these up from Ross or TJ Maxx when i see them on the clearance isle. I have them for gifts or i use them for personal use cause i'm a note taker. I started my Meal Plan by writing the days of the week with Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Then i start filling in the blanks. Sounds easy enough....so why is this hard for me? Maybe i'm lazy...ha!

Now don't look to hard...i have some misspelled words. HA! Kids were running around me and asking me like 5 pazzzillion questions. So i may have misspelled Raisins. And i may have done it 2 or 3 times. That is ok....i know i did it. I can laugh and move on.

Ok....back to my meal plan. So on the front page i wrote down all the meals for the week. On the back of the page i wrote down my real grocery list. Groceries only. If i need anything else from the store i use a sticky note to do so. That way i know what i need per recipe. I do this week after week making sure i write down at least 2 new recipes per week. Then when i'm having an off week and don't have alot of time to meal plan i can just go back and "reuse" a week. And i instantly have my grocery list. I think this is going to be great. And a great way to work new recipes into the rotation. Because what i have realized real fast about trying new recipes is that it can get pretty pricey. This keeps me on budget and helps me keep up healthy eating habits. Win win in my book. ;)

How do you Meal Plan? Do you plan weekly or monthly?

Sing Off ~

Ok...i'm usually slow to see shows. Mostly i catch them after they are off on netflix cause i can view at my own time. Today i was flipping thru the channels and stumbled upon this show called The Sing Off. Have you seen it?? I'm watching it on Oxygen but i'm seeing old shows. It is on NBC live. The reason i stopped is i heard acappella singing. I don't know about you but i love hearing songs in acappella. Something about it gives me chills. It is an amazing gift that some people can sing like this. The first song i heard on the show was by the group Pentatonix. They were doing "Love Lockdown". I have to say i loved it. They did such a good job. I had to rewind and watch it again. They delivered this flawlessly. Again...chills! I finished watching the show and they had some amazing talent. Sorry...way better than american idol. :P If you haven't seen it....check it out. If you have seen it....let me know who is your fav.!! :)

Happy Friday!!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner ~

I have been trying out alot of new recipes lately. ;o) The hubs is loving it. Seems as though we get stuck in a dinner rut and make the same things over and over. And i still have my favs that i like to make on friday night. In our house friday night is usually taco or pizza night. But lately i have been making a point to try new things. So this weekend i made two new chicken dinners. One was a winner and the other was a bust. So i thought i would share my new chicken {winner} recipe.

What you will need:

8 ounces uncooked rigatoni
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup finely chopped purple onion (about 1 medium)
1 (10-oz.) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed
3 cups cubed cooked chicken breasts
1 (14.5-oz.) can Italian-style diced tomatoes
1 (8-oz.) container chive-and-onion cream cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 cups (6 oz.) shredded mozzarella cheese

Preparation
1. Prepare rigatoni according to package directions.
2. Meanwhile, spread oil on bottom of an 11- x 7-inch baking dish; add onion in a single layer.
3. Bake at 375° for 15 minutes or just until tender. Transfer onion to a large bowl, and set aside.
4. Drain chopped spinach well, pressing between layers of paper towels.
5. Stir rigatoni, spinach, chicken, and next 4 ingredients into onion in bowl. Spoon mixture into baking dish, and sprinkle evenly with shredded mozzarella cheese.
6. Bake, covered, at 375° for 30 minutes; uncover and bake 15 more minutes or until bubbly.

And this is what you end up with.....a big dish of Yummy! :o) Add and salad and your done. Easy and pretty healthy. This would be a great dinner to make, double and freeze.

Are you trying any new recipes lately? Got any winners....please share.

      New Fall Outfit ~

Ok...quick post today. Remember the brown polkadot ruffle pants that i posted about. Well i finally got around to making the top to go with them. :o) Check out these terrible pictures i took with my daughters kid camera! HA! Hopefully you can see the cuteness of the outfit though.

Front view. She is so happy with this new outfit. And so am i. So much so that i'm going to be making me a matching skirt in the material i used for the top. OH MY it is GAW-jus!!!

Here is the back. I can't tell you how many complements my daughter has got. Which makes a mommy proud. :o) Just wish i had a few extra of these made up to sell.

      What do ya think?

      V is for Vacation ~

AHHHHHHH!!!!! Va. ca. tion time !! This year the kids were UBER excited to go to the beach. They just couldn't wait to play in the sand and swim in the BIG water. :o) My kids may look and act just like their daddy....but they got their love of the beach from me. HA! The hubs was excited to go fishing and i was excited to be in the sun. F.U.N. times! Sand castles, sand angels, diggin' holes to splash in, listening to the waves come in, feeding the birds, going canoeing in the bayou.

I always try to get our family picture in on these vacations. Noting like white and khaki with a beach background. :o)

This is one of my favorites this year. Makes me want to cry every time i look at it. Can't wait to get these printed and framed and on my wall.

This one is also a fav!

Little girl was so excited to plop down in the water as SOON as we got there.

      The view from my chair......

Now we are back home and it is getting cold out. That is OK i guess. Made my first Chili of the season and the hubs built our first fire.

I sat down and wrote out my "Fall Bucket List". So much i want to do in what seems like a very short period of time.

      Days Come & Gone ~

Yes....i have been very M.I.A.! We have been sick and had visitors and trying to soak up every bit of summer {or what is left of it} as much as we can. In other words ...family time has trumped blogging time. I'm loving this weather we are having....just perfect! Hours on end outside.
Its that time of the year when the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting cooler. In a few short weeks we will be getting our first frost. And in a few short days fall will be arriving. I am definitely getting geared up for fall. Tons of new recipes to try and lots of crafty goodies for the me AND the kids. :o) And i will be sharing along the way.

I have one thing i want to share today. Something i have found that is awesome. Something that alows me to have more time to do other things that need to be done or for me to just be lazy. HA! I'm sure alot of you have seen it but i just found it a few weeks ago. CROCK POT GIRLS !!!

      Something Funny {but not to me} ~

Nothing like documenting experiences. Well do i have one for the record. This weekend i FINALLY used my spa day gift certificate that my awesome hubby got for me back last December. Yeah, i have not used it till now. I kept telling myself that once the bulk of the kitchen was done i would go. So this weekend i decided it was high time to go. I have been before and the gentleman that they used to have is gone. He was a gay guy and very professional. This go round i was not so lucky. Let me explain. So i get there first thing in the morning and all the employees were in a staff meeting. When they all came out i watched to see other ladies go with whoever for whatever they were doing. I saw this guy and hoped he was not the one to give me my massage. He was very scraggly looking....and that is being nice. Next thing i new....he was introducing himself to me. GREAT. All i kept telling myself was ...hopefully he is good at what he does. I got on the table and closed my eyes and tried to relax. At first i thought well this isn't so bad. Then i heard him get the oil and rub it on his hands. Still not so bad. AND then i heard him get more oil and rub it on his hands again....and his arms. Now for those of you who have had a massage you know that they use their arms sometimes across your back. And this can be very relaxing if done right. BUT this guy was a total GORILLA!!!! All i could feel was his hairy oiled up arms scrubbing up and down my back. So not the relaxing experience i paid for. I couldn't relax one moment. And it took all i had not to barf threw the pillow hole my face was in. In the end i ran out of there as fast as i could. Gross, Gross....GROSS!! Has anyone ever had an experience like that? Yuck!

Ok...lets talk about something better. So i totally had a tutorial for you lined up for last week. And i deleted the pictures i took. Ugggg! I will have to take more before i do the tutorial. So if nothing happens and the kids take a good nap i should have more pics and a sewing tutorial for ya coming soon....... :o)

      Wednesday ~

Thanks to Lee we have had plenty of R.A.I.N. Wanted to grill on the holiday but our grill out got rained out. So what did we do? We shopped. :o) No complaining from me...hehe! And i finally convinced my hubby that we need a new t.v. Lets just say ours is small and old and well something is wrong with it and we have been watching green t.v. for awhile. Now i'm not a tvaholic...buuuuutttt.....i do love a good movie and a favorite t.v. show is coming back on. PSYCH! That show is HI-larious! When i was in labor with my daughter {after epidural} there was a Psych marathon on and the hubs and i laughed till it was time to push. Anywhoodles...i talked him into a new t.v. We got home and started the t.v. exchange. I will show you the new edition to our family when i get our living room back in order. No body wants to see wires and electronic devises everywhere. HA! What did you do on your holiday weekend?

So lets talk about Wednesday. I originally wanted to do a "Organize your Life" post on this day but as i started thinking about it.....well it got overwhelming. It's a time of year that flys by and there is tons of things to do and between now and January 2012 i've got my days pretty filled up. How about you...!!?? Now i do still need to get a few things organized around here but it will be small things {like a sock drawer} not big things {like a whole room}. So the big things will come after January 1st. The reason i want to do this is to finally break down and do this right. I continually try to clean and organize but nothing seems to stick and next thing i know what i just organized isn't very organized anymore. Are you the same way? SO what i want to do is go by this book i own {it is awesome} and list what is to be organized by date. I'll do my organizing...then i would like to hear feedback as to what you did to organize your space. I always have my eyes out for some help in this department. :-/

I have a tutorial for ya soon! :o) So make sure to check back...........

      Etsy Favs Friday ~

Today's the day. Gonna try a few new things. IF you like what i do on a certain day ....let me know. So today is friday {and a holiday weekend too, yippie} and i thought i would feature a few things i happen to like on Etsy. I love Etsy...don't you? I find so much inspiration there and I have to limit myself to only 30 min. a day. HA! It is my first place to go when i'm searching for a gift. I'll either find something i like to buy or find something i think i can make myself. Either way....I. LOVE. ETSY! And here are a few things i spied this morning while drinking my coffee.....

      Etsy store : Raceytay

I don't know about you but i have been drooling over some fall color i see on Etsy lately. And this Picture....well it is just beautiful. Makes me want to pack the family up and go for a hike in the Mountains. Waking up to a brisk chilly morning and putting on my favorite sweatshirt. I would love to have a picture like this in my home. Isn't it just breathtaking.....

      Etsy Store: kbillard

I love these tutu dresses. And next up on my list of things to make my little girl is one like this. I can just imagine my little sweet little darling prancing around in a field of sunflowers wearing this. :o)

      Etsy Store: thepunkinpatch

My little man loves his books. And i have been meaning to make everyone their own library book bag for some time now. I thought this one was just too cute.

      Etsy Store: Stewdio9

Isn't this just lovely. Handpainted Vintage Headboard. I'm loving this right now cause i have a headboard in my garage that i'm going to be painting later this fall when the temps are lower than 106!

      Etsy Store:tvkstyle

I know how to knit....kinda. I know how to make straight lines and made a baby blanket once. But the problem is...i don't know how to stop. And by stop i mean i don't know how to "face off". Sigh! One day i will teach myself but till then i want to order me a Slouch hat and neck warmer. I also want to make sure that it isn't toooooo "Crunchy" looking and this pink set is just the ticket. :)

Well that is it for this friday. This is what i found this morning that i have on my "Want or Want to do" list. Is there something you are loving on Etsy right now?

      Happy Labor Day Weekending.......

Little Bit Crunchy...Little Bit Rock -n- Roll ~

Naptime was a very productive time for me yesterday. :o) Before naptime i got in the kids closets and attic and pulled out the fall and winter clothes that they have outgrown and divided it into Consignment and Pass Down boxes. Yep, it's that time of year again. So when the kids went down i sorted and hung on hangers and pinned and tagged. So glad that is done. Now i just have to drop off and wait for the sale.

After that i darted down to the bonus room to do a load of laundry. Kids were still asleep so i decided i would sew. :) I was wanting to try a new quick sew pattern i had seen online for a peasant top or dress. Ladies this is the BEST and EASIEST pattern evah! By now i can eyeball how long i want something for my daughter. And i wanted to make a peasant top. So i measured out the length and cut it out. It took no time to sew and in what seemed like just minutes i was a happy camper. I want to pair this top with a pair of you guessed it.....ruffle pants. Still trying to decide on how many ruffles though...hehe. So here it is....my daughters...."It's just toooo easy for words peasant top". Would any of my readers like to see a tutorial on how i made this?

Next up i wanted to make a pair of pants to go with a top i have in mind for another day. I didn't have time to do both this day but i will be making it soon. The pants took me about 20 minutes. And by then....i heard little girls feet hit the floor. So that was the end of my sewing time. But i was pleased with what i got done.

Now on to something i can't wait to get my hands on! A sweet lady at church was kind enough to let me borrow her smocking machine. I have wanted to smock for some time now and i'm just itching to make something....and i will very soon.

Here is the bishop pattern she also let me borrow.

Oh yeah, i almost forgot. While going threw closets i found an old sweater of mine. I loved this sweater back in the day. And i have never let myself get rid of it. Do you have items like that? It is out of style and the size is all wonky and it wasn't in the best condition. But i just couldn't throw it out. Anywhozers, my daughter has been asking for leg warmers to dress up in and so when i saw my sweater i thought that the sleeves would make good leg warmers. So i cut the sleeves off and she loved her new leg warmers. I didn't want to waste the rest so i decided to make some funky little boggins. I think they turned out supper cute. For play anyway. Crunchy...yes! But the kids like them and i recycled something i loved.

Ok....one last thing before i wrap up this post. I have been thinking about changing up a few things on the ol'blog. First up i was thinking about how random my posts are. I think i want to try to be alittle "Less" random. For instance on Friday have that day set to be "Etsy Favs Friday". or " Foodie Friday". Or "Tip me Tuesday" or "Tutorial Thursday" or "Get your life Organized Wednesday". What do you think? Maybe i will try it for a few weeks and you let me know if you like it.

      Happy Last Day OF August!!!!

Birthday Bash & Movie Monday ~

Whew! What a weekend. The hubs took off Friday so that we could get some things done before my little boys birthday party Saturday. We painted and painted and painted, did some yard work, painted, cleaned house and painted some more. Not to mention we had a church function going on Friday night. Once we got back home we painted some more. BUT the trim in the kitchen looks great and i'm glad it is done.

HubbyKins hard at work. Let me tell you....the paint sprayer has been a blessing!!
I have wanted trim like this under the chair rail for a long time. :o) So very excited that this is done and i get to enjoy it. I have a big grin every time i walk into the dinning room now. LOVE!

My little man's birthday party was great. We had some friends from out of town get to come and i was soooo very happy to see them. I don't know if she knew but she helped me tremendously by just being here. I was so nervous hosting this party. I don't know why actually....maybe cause there are so many undone things in my house? Maybe cause i haven't had a birthday party at my house? Not sure but i was glad to see her and her sweet family.

We had the party at 2:00 so i decided to just do snacky things. No one would want a meal at that time so sweets it was. Cupcakes, ice cream, S'mores pops {recipe to follow} and because it was a airplane themed ...pretzels and peanuts with mini cokes/drinks.

The hubby and i moved the newly painted buffet into the living room and i started arranging everything.

I ordered his cupcakes this year. Walmart does a great job and they are pretty tasty. I got them in red, yellow and blue icing. The same colors of his airplanes. I put the pretzels in an apothecary jar i found at ROSS.

Marshmellow pops are all over the place in bloggyland. I decided on S'mores pops. Easy Peezy! Here is what you will need: Marshmellows {large}, bakers chocolate {i used milk chocolate}, Graham crackers {smooshed} and i got the sticks at Hobby Lobby in the baking section. Simply put the marshmellow on the stick. Then dip it in the the melted chocolate. Then roll it around in the graham cracker crumbs. And there you have it......S'mores POPS! Everyone seemed to like them so i will be making these again. :o)

That's it. The party was fun....Little man had a blast and now my house is clean for me to enjoy today while the kids play with all the new toys. :o)

Saturday night the hubs and i finally got to watch our Netflix movie we got in the mail. True Grit. Have you seen it? It was nothing like i had thought it would be. I really enjoyed it. If you haven't seen it.....you might want to check it out.

      Happy Monday!!!

      2 ~ Two ~ Zwei ~Deux ~ Due ~ Dois

I have a super special little boy in my life that is 2 today! 2 years ago today my wish of having a son came true. Such a sweet little boy he is. I'm so blessed to have him in my life.

      • He knows he has his momma wrapped around his finger.

      • He has to be within seeing distance of momma at all times. If for what ever reason i cannot be right by his side he is so glad to see me and lets me know by running up to me and says momma, momma, momma till i pick him up and then he throws his arms around me for a big hug. Then he takes my face in his hands and smiles at me with the sweetest little smile that just melts my heart!!

      • He is finally wearing the corresponding size for his age. Size 2 and a size 6 for a shoe.

      • I do believe he is gearing up for the potty. He has started telling me that he has to go pee pee.

      • He loves to shout WAWA {water} when we go over a bridge.

      • He loves to have story time.

      • He loves to say all the animals with his flash cards.

      • Favorite foods are Pasta and mac n cheese.

      • Favorite toys right now are his airplane and blocks.

      • He repeats anything his sister says or does.

      • He talks up a storm....and says just about anything he wants. Of course i'm the only one who can understand him sometimes.

I had/have so much to say about this little fella....i guess it called for bullets...HA!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SWEET BOY!

Now i'm off to celebrate his special day with the family today. :o)

      TWO Cute ~

As mentioned before i plan on making the majority of my kids fall and winter clothing this year. I keep seeing all these cute outfits on Etsy and well.....i know i can make them myself. AND for a 3rd the price. I have such beautiful material waiting for me just to take the plunge and cut and sew. I don't always have a pattern for what i want to sew so i look long and hard at what i see that i like and decide if i can "tweak" a pattern that i already have OR....make a pattern on my own. I have to admit that making my own pattern makes me nervous. But when i finally do it and sew it all together and it turns out just like i imagined.....OH what a great feeling. :o)
Why don't i just buy the pattern i need? Ummm...well patterns are expensive! If i can get them on sale for .99 cents at Hobby Lobby then great. But i'm not paying $10 or $17 for one. I'M CHEAP! HA! Anywho...i keep seeing these pillowcase rompers that are just too cute. I love pillowcase dresses and they are pretty easy to make. So i talked myself into making a pillowcase romper. I took my favorite ruffle pants pattern and "tweaked" it. I added extra length to the top to turn it into a romper. I still have some adjustments to make the next time i make one but for now....i like it.
I looks better on her. Looking at it hanging on the hanger it looks clownish. HA! Maybe it's the colors. Brown and Orange.
Instead of the normal pillowcase ribbons on each side i went with "knot" straps.
Here are the sweet ruffles. And a sneaky little fella trying to get in the picture. :o)

Next up is a sweet peasant dress in some of my favorite colors for the upcoming season. Black, white and yellow. I wish i had one in my size. Hehe! And well yes...i had to add a ruffle on it somewhere.... :o)
I was trying to take these pictures super quick cause my kids were yanking it off and trying to put the dress on. Soooooo....everything looks wonky in this picture. So let me be clear. The ruffle in the middle IS STRAIGHT....just not in the picture....HA!

Now i have to go make a special something for my son to wear for his birthday.

      Happy Weekending!!!
