We took a family vacation to the Smoky Mountains. Boy was it HOT!! It was the 2nd time in the mountains for my daughter and she had a blast. I do believe her favorite was swimming/floating in the creek. And it was little boys first time...and well he doesn't like anything to do with the great outdoors so it was torture for him. He did manage to catch some Z's while the hubs packed him on his back during several hikes. Hubby managed to get in a little bit of fishing. We always drive over to Cherokee so the kids can see the Indians. This year we got to watch them do a few dances. That was pretty neat-O! While we were there the kid-a-roos got a few souvenirs. Little girl picked out this sweet little Indian doll.
We are still trying to think of a good Indian name for her. I want to call her "Chasing Elk". Since we saw tons of Elk in the Cataloochee area. She also got that Indian music maker.
Baby boy got a black bear {like the one we saw} and a coon skin hat made by the cherokee indians {not china}.

LOVE GATLINBURG !!!
We are going next weekend. My 4yr old already has somethings planned out for us to do. Cades Cove - Historic Nature Trail - ride the chair lift up the big hill...
You inspired me to get the NEW sewing machine out of the box that my mthr n law got me for xmas and make something for a baby shower gift. I made hooded bath towels and some of the peepee teepee's. My tp's didn't look as good as yours - I made them out of the extra washcloth that came in the 3 pack I got so they match the hooded bath towels.
I'm sure you've seen or made the hooded bath towels but incase you haven't... you just take a towel and sew a washcloth to the middle when the towel is folded in half and sew up the other end of the washcloth to make the hood.
They last forever... I got a couple as baby gifts and my son still uses them.
we usually try to take a vacation to the smokies every other year. :) it is one of our favorite vacation spots.
